The Real Deal

By Sarah Dodge for Sean O’Keefe Events

We find ourselves yet again at the very beginning of an SOE Event week, and of course, my mind and stomach forge together as one to form an unstoppable thought bubble that cannot think of anything but the event food menu. It’s not just any event food, mind you. It’s a Sean O’Keefe Event, and therefore, you know the fare is going to be above and beyond just any old event food. It’s going to be, well, eventful.

As I highlighted in the last post, the Child Development Association’s annual fundraiser, The Down Home Derby, is looming right around the corner. It’s this Saturday May 5th to be exact and tickets are still available for you to purchase with pleasure and delight. The event will be filled with way more joy and fun than one should handle alone, so come one and all and join the fete. While there are so many things to highlight with this upcoming event, I cannot ignore my stomach, which is screaming at me to highlight a very awesome sponsor who will be providing this event’s delicious food, beer, and cocktails.

5 Season’s Brewing Company has been on the local food scene for quite some time, and although I’ve known about this local gem, having a recent conversation with head chef and owner David Larkworthy only made me fall more in love with this restaurant. Chef Larkworthy’s goal with 5 Season’s is to feature in-season food and world-class beer all while staying humble and true to it’s local neighborhood patrons. With three locations, Larkworthy and 5 Season’s have certainly expanded, but the goal has remained the same. Growing up in a family obsessed with all things food, Larkworthy has a passion for locally sourced, in-season, and high quality produce and meat. Maintaining relationships with local farmers, butchers, and other various suppliers allows Larkworthy and his team to keep 5 Season’s a true food stronghold in the Atlanta community. It’s also pretty refreshing to see a blueberry bush growing right on the restaurants patio next to their giant steel fermenting containers. With a regular menu as its backbone, each 5 Season’s location has a rotation of 20-30 daily specials that are sure to leave every customer satisfied and enthused. Add a few cellars of delicious fermenting beer and you’ve got yourself quite an amazing restaurant.

Larkworthy and his team are more than honored to take part in the upcoming CDA Down Home Derby. With a 5 Season’s location in Alpharetta, Larkworthy felt it to be a natural fit to help support a cause catered at educating youth in the community. Having had an opportunity to visit the CDA’s operation and see first hand all that the nonprofit is accomplishing, it only felt more right to have his business involved. 5 Season’s admiration of Sean O’Keefe Events is also one of support and trust. Stealing from Captain Planet, it seems we’ve certainly encountered a situation in which local powers combine and nothing but good results.

5 Season’s Brewing Company is indeed a local restaurant known for it’s great food and celebrated beers, but it’s also a restaurant that deals in the celebration of life and in the delicious things that life naturally brings our way. If you haven’t been, go to 5 Season’s Brewery NOW and see for yourself. Even better though is to purchase a ticket to this weekend’s Down Home Derby and partake in all the 5 Season’s food, beer, and cocktails while also supporting a worthy local cause. It’s the real deal, folks, so join the celebration!
